To teach schoolchildren to program and maintain their interest in digital technologies, Yandex, together with the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications of the Orenburg Region and the Ministry of Education of the Orenburg Region, has been implementing the Yandex. Lyceum ".

As part of the project, 302 sites were created in 131 cities of Russia. In the Orenburg region, four of them were created: on the basis of the Orenburg College of Economics and Informatics, the Governor's Lyceum, the University College of the OSU and the Orsk Oil Technical School named after I. V. A. Sorokin.

For two years at Yandex. Lyceum ”students will acquire knowledge that will be enough to start working as an intern or junior developer. The resulting competencies will also be useful in non-digital areas.

In the Orenburg region the opportunity to study at Yandex. Lyceum ”interested many students. When enrolling there was a competition of 17 people for a place, while on average 11-13 people applied for one place in Russia. There was also a low dropout rate of schoolchildren: only 10 out of 76 students did not complete their studies (13 % of the total number of students). On average in Russia, this figure was 30 %.

The plans for the 2020/2021 academic year are to train 180-200 Orenburg schoolchildren, as well as organize a new site in Orsk on the basis of school number 24 and open an additional class on the basis of the existing site - the University College of OSU.
