Ural Steel will master the production of wheel billets with improved properties for VSW
Metalloinvest and the United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow) held a regular meeting of the Coordination Council. It was held online for the first time.
The partners discussed issues of improving the quality of continuously cast billets for the production of railway wheels, mastering the production of billets with improved properties. The Council was attended by the heads and specialists of OMK and Matalloinvest, as well as the Vyksa Steel Works (VMZ) and Ural Steel (part of the Metalloinvest company).
Last year, Ural Steel shipped more than 450 thousand tons of continuously cast billets from different grades of steel to VMZ. Representatives of the OMK Vyksa plant noted its high quality due to the constant improvement of technologies. Ural Steel also intends to modernize the billet marking system.
- To further improve the quality of continuously cast billets, we plan to carry out a complex of research and development work. The work will be organized in the format of an interfactory working group, - noted the technical director of Ural Steel Sergey Zubov.
“We receive high-quality continuous cast billets from Ural Steel, which helps to improve OMK's wheel products,” noted Pavel Stepanov, director of the Vyksa Metallurgical Plant ITC, during the meeting.
