Orenburg region is the leader in sowing winter grain crops

Director of the Department of Plant Growing, Mechanization, Chemicalization and Plant Protection Roman Nekrasov, speaking about the progress of work in the regions, noted an increase in sown areas for winter crops in the Orenburg region.

“A very good growth of 150 thousand hectares has been achieved here, this is half of the increased area in the Volga Federal District,” the head of the department emphasized.

On the territory of the Orenburg region in 2020 it is planned to expand the wedge of winter crops to 900 thousand hectares. To date, winter crops have been sown on an area of 753.1 thousand hectares - 83%, including: winter wheat - 557.6 thousand hectares, winter rye - 183.1 thousand hectares, triticale - 3.8 thousand hectares, winter camelina - 8.6 thousand hectares. Sowing of winter crops continues. Backfilling of spring seeds is underway in the region, today 236.6 thousand tons have been filled - 77% from the need (306.9 thousand tons).
