Annual inflation in the Orenburg Region continues to slow down

27.03.2023 News

In February, inflation in the Orenburg Region was 10.9% after 11.8% in January. This is slightly lower than in Russia as a whole (11%).

The dynamics of prices in the segment of non-food products, as in previous months, was influenced by restrained consumer demand: in February, residents of the region still bought less durable goods. As a result, the annual growth in prices for furniture and new imported cars slowed down. The establishment of a parallel import mechanism helped to expand the supply of household appliances, which made washing machines, stoves, vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens less expensive, and televisions and smartphones continued to become cheaper.

According to the forecast of the Bank of Russia, in the coming months, the annual inflation rate in the whole country will temporarily fall below 4% due to the effect of the high base of last spring. This indicator will increase slightly in the second half of the year.
